A Light Week

It's going to be a light posting blog week- I'm up to my neck in orders and every spare moment is filled with printing, cutting, punching, packing, and shipping!  A raspberry lemonade sounds nice just about now, but then again, so do many other things!  I still have lots to share from our 1 year wedding anniversary weekend, so more to come possibly next week!

The S&S Studio is nuts, which has me feeling the urge to take some nice photos when chaos is not let loose in full force.  Here's a view into S&S this week:

All that hot pink ribbon is for one client, and yes, will most likely ALL be used

Martha, your products make my life much easier

Only half the orders I have going, my time is so limited now I'm relying on Etsy convos to sort them out!

Caffeine and phone, um..............two must haves while working

And that lemonade is still sounding fabulous just about now!

It's Happened

It's finally happened- hubster and I found a sofa we love!  It's absolutely amazing and I'm pretty convinced that we need to start tucking away some funds to make it ours.

This sofa is an over sized, deep, cushy, down-filled monstrous beast.  I love it!  I also can't get over the gorgeous linen cover (I have a soft spot of amazing linens), and the classic, yet modern feel of it is just up my alley.  The second you sit down in it, you sink into the cushions, as it sits low to the ground.  This is what I want.  I want to be completely comfortable when sitting in a sofa and I want enough room for hubs to take his typical right side seat, and for me to sprawl out across the rest of it right next to him (who are we kidding- when have I had time to do this lately)?  In any case, I'm loving this awesome find from Restoration Hardware.

The style is called the Belgian Classic Roll Arm found here and I was able to snap a few photos during our discovery at the store.  Give me some Belgian linen please:

We were also quite taken by the amazing occasional table, it was gigantic, gorgeous, and was set on castors- which really seemed to have no purpose, but I guess I can appreciate anything that has the option of rolling. This is the amazing Dutch Industrial coffee table:  Can you scope hubs in the background admiring it?

And since I can't get enough linen, we had to put the vintage-washed Belgian linen duvet and shams on the wish list as well- the hand of these are like no other, over the top soft with such an elegant appeal.

I've been a fan of RH's paint colors for some time now, they really get it when it comes to the hues of colors!  If one really knew all the time it takes to research a color and get just the right percentages of white/black mixed in to make an amazing shade, they'd realize why there are individuals that hold the title of "color specialist".  Yes, really, I can appreciate and awesome color that has been thought through!  Although my only request to RH concerning this matter is- offer QUART sizes please, that sampler size is really a joke (hence 'sampler' I guess), and not everyone needs a gallon.  Thanks!

Randomness VI

Photo via French Affairs on Etsy

1.  How does one become a fan of their own blog?  I don't know, but I'm a follower of S&S!

2.  Why do I get so excited for the evenings that Big Brother is on television?  Must not be much to watch these days.

3.  I'd love to be sitting in a chilled pool in Maui overlooking the coast with a lava flow in hand.

4.  I can't believe that our anniversary cake has been looking me straight in the eye for a few days, and I've only had one piece since Monday- now that is some restraint!

5.  Hubs and I made a Halloween purchase the other day- heck yes, it was an awesome candelabra.

6.  I have a chair frame sitting in the garage and jewelry stand in the bedroom, both waiting for a fresh coat of paint and some love to make beautiful again.  Now that I've put it in writing, one of these must be done by the end of September- someone hold me to it- please!!!

A Couple's Gratitude

I had the pleasure of working with the lovely, awesome Haley again for her thank you cards following her Maui, Hawaii wedding.  If you missed the couple's amazing photos posted earlier this month, view them here.  Working with repeat clients is absolutely a thrill.  It forms that constant contact again for a while and has the feeling of speaking with an old friend.  I was honored to have had the opportunity to design the thank you cards for this couple and was even more taken back by the new bride's thoughtful comments.

Below are some shots of her cards, we switched up the final version a bit with reversing their names and changing a few small details, although the bride provided her own thank you message:

The lovely comments I received back:

Back, Rested, and Content

Back and rolling from our exciting anniversary weekend- loads of fun things paired with hanging with my fave person in the world, D and I had an amazing 1 year anniversary weekend!

Fun things to come this week, just thought I'd share a photo from this weekend.  On Sunday, we went on a champagne brunch cruise, the Hornblower, with the family- it was SO yum and relaxing.  It was a beautiful day and a nice ride around the bay.  And all those plates of food in front of us, um..................., yes, they were all ours!

Shout Out to the Guy

Hubs and I are approaching our one year wedding anniversary in a few days- has it really been one year since we flew over to Maui, had the time of our lives, got married, stayed in some amazing places, met awesome people, and explored beautiful things?  Awwww, the time has flown by.  And by the end of this year, we'll be celebrating 12 years together (which blows my mind even more)!  To the most amazing man that God could have ever brought into my life........

It's always been him, and always will be.

How Neat!

So I found this amazing idea, it's really a story, but I love incorporating the idea to make it personal.  A seller TonyAstultz on Etsy is selling these hand crafted cut out wall art pieces in the shape of Africa.  The heart is placed in the location of Ethiopia where they are in the process of adopting a child, and all the proceeds of sales are going toward the adoption expenses.  If this cause doesn't urge you to reach deep down in your pockets to make a purchase, I don't know what will.  The listing states that the heart can be placed in any African area you'd like.

This amazing piece of art got me thinking, I want one of those shaped in the island of Maui, Hawaii with the heart placed near Makena where the hubs and I got married.  I think it would be an awesome wall hanging to even frame nicely and hang in our home.  The wheels are turning in my head and I haven't contacted the Etsy seller to see if they can design my request, as it appears their shop just opened up and they may just be starting out with a few items.  I just love this idea!

Really?

Would someone actually own this poster?  It's freakin hilarious, and I guess if you were needing a pick me up, it's a great motivator to give yourself props!

Rocking Cutter

Dear Martha,

Thank you for upgrading to a more bad-A paper trimmer that has a better glide system, requires less elbow grease, and has a storage compartment underneath for spare blades.  This rocks.  Don't get me wrong, the old verison got me through 100 DIY wedding invitations with 4 pieces each and a load of Etsy orders in addition to lasting me a good year, but this new style is making life a bit easier.  Awesome.

1.  Sunglasses really should be tried on before purchasing (I've decided they can never be purchased online).

2.  Laying glue-down wood floor with less than 3" planks is not my idea of fun.

3.  Martha Stewart's home kitchen collection is screaming my name- one of each please.

4.  Can't stand when you "pass" a song on Pandora, they have to flash an ad everytime and punish you for not liking a song before playing another (really.....!!?!)- ugh!

5.  Wishing today could be a beach morning- hubs, a sweatshirt, beach cruiser, Starbucks, long ride up the Coast.

6.  Not a fan of leggings that look like faux jeans and are worn in the place of jeans, um not for me.

7.  Temper Trap's "Conditions" album has been in my car well over 2 months and I've rocked out to it everyday.

8.  Love when my husband says "badass"- the tone, the usage, makes me laugh every time.

Sometimes

Sometimes it's the simplest thoughts that take me to another place.  Maui, can't wait to go back!

Congrats to Mrs. Holls

My dear Hollie tied the knot a few weeks ago in Cancun and she had a gorgeous beach side wedding.  Hollie holds a special place in my heart as one of my very first clients.  She found my Etsy shop through Project Wedding and after that, we were quite unstoppable in regards to what could be designed for her wedding!  I can't wait to see her professional photos, although she was kind enough to send a teaser upon her return from her destination wedding.

Holls, I adore you and am so happy to have established a lifelong friendship.  Wishing only the best to you and Aaron!

Here are a few designs that were made just for Hollie's special day:

Myra is Magnificent

Just had to show off the gorgeous Twigs and Honey hair ornaments recently featured on Myra's re-vamped site and also showcased on her blog.  Look here and here for them, as they are absolutely stunning!  I'd love to have one of these little pretties in my hair for our Maui photo shoot early next year (if the funds weren't running so low).  I almost contemplated entering her giveaway on Project Wedding, but I'd love to see a soon-to-be bride feel the excitement and elation of winning a T&H original.  Her shop, website, and blog serve up the most beautiful hair jewelry and inspiration a girl could ask for.

Real Wedding- Haley and Sam

I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to work with amazing clients such as Haley and Sam.  Haley contacted me through my Etsy shop to have a few items designed for her wedding including programs, menus, and place cards.  I now have the pleasure of designing her thank you card booklets while viewing all her breathtaking photos in the process.  All of my Hawaii wedding clients hold a special little place in my heart, myself being a Maui bride.  This wedding is just too spectacular not to be shared!

Haley and Sam were married this past May in Maui, Hawaii at the Olowalu Plantation House located North-West of the island in Lahaina.  The location was perfect, the weather was perfect, and their wedding appeared no less than perfect.  Their amazing photographer Shawn Starr has graciously allowed S&S to feature his amazing work, which can also be viewed on his site here and blog here.  Check out his talented work and browse through the many Hawaiian weddings when you have some time, just gorgeous!  So without further delay, enjoy!

Thank you Haley and Sam for sharing the memories of your special day!  May you have a blessed marriage filled with happiness and unending love!
